we headed to the astros game on sunday with our friends ryan, krista, chris, and michelle. we usually do this at least once a season when the astros play the brewers because ryan is from wisconsin and is a brewers fan. unfortunately, the astros are terrible and we knew they had no chance of winning but we thought it would be fun to go anyway. avery had never been to an astros game and evan was finally to an age where we thought he might enjoy it a little more than before.
before the game started, they did the big ball toss with junction jack, the astros rabbit mascot. i stood up with avery in my arms and junction jack threw me one of the balls from the field. like a pro, i snagged it out of the air and got a nod from junction jack – i think he was impressed :) we were thinking that maybe i would get called up to play for the ‘stros!! haha!!
after giving that ball to e, brian and evan headed up to get ice cream and junction jack was hanging out on the concourse. evan hesitantly gave him a high five and got another ball. lucky boy got chocolate ice cream and two baseballs!! i would say it was a successful trip!
we left the game after the 7th inning stretch and headed to miss margot’s 3rd birthday party at pearland splash park. unfortunately the baseball game started right at naptime for both munchkins. while aj was able to take a nap during the game, evan held out and fell asleep on the way to the party. it didn’t take very long to get there so the poor boy only got about a 20 minute nap.
needless to say, he took a little while to warm up at the party, but once he did, he had an absolute blast and didn’t want to leave! crazy kid! avery also played and was giggling like a little goober almost the entire time. these kids LOVE the water!!
