first night away from e.
i had a women’s retreat with mum this weekend in round top. because of pawpaw’s funeral, i didn’t go up there until saturday afternoon. we had a great time and enjoyed a little r&r.
it was my first night away from e and i think it went well. evan has the best daddy and handled it all like a pro! brian met me up at my parent’s house for lunch and i was super excited to see them both! ms. barbara brought evan his christmas present and he had fun playing with it. thanks so much for the beautiful cross!!!
nanny also helped evan practice crawling.
did you know that fish faces really help you to crawl better?? :)
my handsome boys.
the boys on saturday before pawpaw’s funeral.
have i mentioned lately how much i love them?!?!
they are AMAZING!
mud & laundry.
the weather has been so gorgeous so we’ve been spending more and more time outside. we’ll go out every night and play with the girls in the backyard. usually e sits on my lap while i throw the ball or frisbee for the puppies. last friday, he kept leaning really far forward looking at something. i finally realized he was checking out the grass so i set him down on the porch so he could play with it. there was also some mud there so he got to get a little dirty as well. all boy!
we then cleaned him off and went inside to do a little laundry before it was time to go to pawpaw’s visitation. evan decided to “help” me with the laundry. bet you didn’t know how fun it is to ride in the laundry basket!
we love england football {& usa of course}.
when the england family came over after evan was born, they brought him a chelsea uniform. surprise, surprise he has outgrown that outfit so for christmas, he got another chelsea uniform and an england uniform. last thursday, it was a gorgeous day so we got e dressed in his england uni and went on a walk. before the walk, the boys posed in their teams’s colours.
in case you didn’t know, england and usa are meeting in the first round of the world cup. we will be a house divided! brian and my uncle bob in england have a little wager going on. the way i see it, it’s a win-win for us!
pawpaw.
a week ago today, we lost brian’s grandfather. his health had been deteriorating and he was suffering from a broken heart after losing grandma in september. he was such a great man who cared so much for his family. he was always good for a laugh & loved to keep you laughing. he was so excited to meet “spike” aka evan and showed him off every chance he got.
we are really sad that he is gone but pray that he is happy in heaven with grandma {and jim}. it has been a rough 4 months for brian’s family but we’re hoping things only get better from here. we miss grandma, pawpaw, and jim but know that they are watching over us and will be there waiting for us…

e loves his wagon.
the weather is finally nice enough that we could take the wagon on it’s inaugural walk and it was a hit!!! evan was loving riding around watching everything {but mainly his crazy puppies!}. thanks cc & aunt ashley!! i have a feeling we’re going to wear it out!
{ps…we left the cover off of it…e wanted his convertible top off :) }
patty cake.
while i was at the emhe reveal, cindy watched evan for us {brian had to work until 6}. when we came home, our munchkin was “patty-caking” :)
extreme makeover home edition.
last week, emhe surprised the beach family in kemah and built a HUGE home for them {6300 sq ft}!! this family is so deserving and were displaced when ike hit. the build was about a mile from our house so it was fun to drive by and see what was happening. i volunteered but so did tons of other people so i never got the chance to help. the reveal was scheduled for 2 on thursday so i thought i would miss that as well but it ran late so i was able to go out there and see it!! i’m a nerd and love the show so it was fun to see how everything really works!
the whole reveal process took awhile but it was fun. here are a few videos but there are more on our picture site…

7 months old.
evan is seven months old {2 days ago:)}!!! wow, has time flown!! he is learning so much each day and is well on his way to getting around…scary!! this mama is not ready for that at all! after his rsv over christmas and all of the spoiling he got, i was afraid he would be a disaster when he got back to daycare but he wasn’t at all. i think he just enjoys watching all the other little kids moving around {and i think he’s secretly studying them trying to figure it out :)}.
things e is doing at 7 months…
- eating 3 solid meals a day {all 2nd stage foods}
- a bottle {usually 7-8 ounces} when he wakes up
- a tub of fruit with some rice cereal around 9ish
- a jar of meat with a tub of veggies and some rice cereal at lunch
- a tub of fruit around 3ish
- a tub of veggies and a tub of fruit or a dessert at 7ish
- a bottle just before bed
- at least one 8 ounce bottle of water with 1-2 ounces of apple juice mixed in
- he has one or two 8 ounce bottles of milk whenever he wants them during the day
- he’s also trying out the puffs and yogurt melts - some days are better than others but he’s trying
-
- has started “talking" – not really but his sounds have started actually sounding like words. on january 9, he started saying “dadadadadadada” over and over again. his daddy is thrilled :) he gets so excited when you say it with him and starts bouncing and dancing all over the place.
- uses everyone and everything as his personal bouncer. when he is in his actual bouncer, he goes CRAZY!! we’re a little worried he might bounce himself right out :)
- loves being out and about. he just looks around and takes everything in. he is very rarely fussy and loves “flirting” with all the little girls. i’m in big trouble!!
- loves daycare. he was off for 3 weeks over christmas and i would like to think he had fun with us, but he loves being at daycare and watching all the other kiddos moving around. he also likes “talking” to everyone. there’s so much to do, he has a hard time finding time for a nap {he usually only naps about 50 minutes total while at daycare and then crashes once he gets home. i’m ok with it cause it means i get some cuddle time while unwinding from work :)
- is wearing a size 4 diaper – big boy i know!
- is wearing anything from a 12 month to 24 month size clothes.
- is sort of close to crawling. he can move himself backwards and has gotten himself to move forwards just a little bit a couple of times but nothing huge. he seems to be starting to get the idea that his knees need to be under him though so it’s only a matter of time!
- can stand really well when supported. then he tries to bounce and it’s all over but it’s impressive while it lasts :)
- is still sleeping on his belly and his sleeping is back to normal after his rsv episode {thank goodness!!}
- still isn’t rolling over – whatever!
- has started playing with the puppys’ toys – much to their dislike! they are being very good and patient with him though.
- is still using his bath seat for the cleaning portion of his bath but after that, is sitting on the mat in the tub and playing with all of his fun toys. i swear he would stay in there all night if i let him!
- seems to be getting some teeth. his drooling has gotten insane, he is constantly sticking his hand in his mouth and chewing, and he loves gnawing on things. he has always done most of those things but it’s gotten soooooo much more obvious these days. i think it’s only a matter of time!
- will sort of put his arms up when you come up to him to pick him up. cute!
- is still incredibly sweet and loves to give “hugs” to people when they pick him up.
we love this little boy to pieces and are loving seeing everything he is learning!!!
