brian had the day off on monday so we loaded up and headed to the zoo in the morning. i’m a genius and left the memory card in the computer but managed to bring the flip so we just took some video:) evan had a blast {and i’m sure avery did too:)} and was able to recognize and name most of the animals. we got sound effects too!! soooo cute!!!

budweiser clydesdales.

vanpa sent a message this morning letting us know the clydesdales were going to be in kemah at 11 so we took the 5 minute trip over to see them. evan was super excited to see the “horseys” and was even more excited when their dalmation was also there :)

colouring.

two months.

height: 22 inches {5oth %ile}
weight: 13 lb 2 oz {99th %ile} & according to the doctor, the size of the average 4 month old – of course!!

avery is wearing a size 2 diaper and has been for the last couple of weeks.
she is wearing some 0-3 month clothes and some 3-6 month. she has definitely outgrown some of her 0-3 month pajamas so we’ve had to start raiding the bigger drawers:)
she is taking about 3-5 ounces every 2-3 hours. she is getting better about not snacking and taking full meals.
she is sleeping pretty well still. she usually wakes up once between 2 and 4 although she slept until 5 one morning this last weekend. then she usually sleeps until 5-7 depending on how early she got up the first time.
she smiles and coos all the time. for the last few days, she has been awake most of the day and is smiling and “talking” most of the time. silly girl!
avery started to get a really fussy time around 7 pm but we switched her bottles to the anti colic version and that seems to have helped.
she went on her first plane ride last month to little rock to visit family. she did great on the plane which is good since we tend to travel quite a bit!
she takes a paci but it has to be on her terms. one second she won’t take it and then the next, she does. then she usually proceeds to pass out.
she takes a bath every night with evan and loves it. i know newborns don’t need baths that often but it seems to help her get into the bedtime routine and we’re doing it anyway so whatever!

she is still such an easy baby and goes with the flow. we love her to death and are having so much fun seeing her and evan interact. they are so sweet!! we will have to enjoy it while it lasts :)

NICU blankets.

my friend, kim, had her twins last year on march 3 at 24 weeks. there were some very rough days in the NICU and some times they weren’t sure the twins would make it but they are both here and doing well today. in honour of karsyn & kaden’s 1st birthday, kim had the great idea of making blankets and taking them to the NICU for other kiddos there. this was one of the ways kim was able to make their space there a little more “homey” and she thought it might be nice for other parents and babies staying in the NICU. we met up one sunday and made some blankets and then we made some on our own. this was my first attempt at sewing on the new machine and i must say, it was fairly easy and no fingers were sewn together :)

valentine’s day continued.

our friend, jaclyn, sent brian a recipe from bakerella for oreo truffles. brian was going to make them for me for valentine’s day but after going to three stores and finding no chocolate covering stuff {technical i know:)}, we had to put it off for a week. sunday night, brian made them for me and they were to die for!!! amazing!! here’s what they look like…

we had left over coating so we dunked the leftover oreos as well :)

gorgeous day.

today was gorgeous outside so when brian got home, we knew we had to head outdoors! we decided to take a long walk with all 4 kiddos {i’m including the 4 legged ones:)}. before kids, we would take the girls on a walk nearly every day to a lake near our house. they would run and swim and wear each other out so we took them there. they don’t have nearly the endurance they used to but they had a blast swimming and running!

we leashed them back up and headed to the playground so evan could play. rylea and addison couldn’t figure out why i wouldn’t let them play with all of the kids there. guess they don’t think they’re that intimidating looking:) evan played hard with daddy while us girls watched from the picnic benches.

valentines day flowers.

i forgot to mention in my valentine’s day post that i got flowers from both of my boys this <3 day!! brian went to the grocery store on sunday and came home with stargazer lilies – my favorite!!!

cc watched evan for us sunday afternoon so that we could get some things done and when she brought him back, he came bearing a bouquet of red tulips – another favorite!! they were gorgeous and he handed them to me and said “happy valentine’s day” or something similar :) cindy had picked up the flowers and then had evan practice carrying them and say “happy valentine’s day".” unfortunately, when they came in, the dogs went nuts and evan threw the flowers on the ground and started crying {he was super sleepy by this point} but he quickly recovered and it was so precious having him hand me the tulips {which were nearly bigger than him:)}. thank so much cindy!! i will never forget my little man bringing me flowers!

videos.

bumbo.

avery has had decent head control lately – except for when she’s lazy:) – so i decided to try sitting her in her bumbo. she didn’t do too badly!!!

valentine’s day.

for valentine’s day, evan made daddy a card and we went and put it in brian’s truck. it told daddy to call us when he got it to find out where we were – we were going to have a valentine’s playdate. we ended up at kemah {where we never go even though we live so close} and evan played on the playground and then looked at the boats and ducks while we waited for daddy to get there. while he was playing on the playground, the train came by so i told him to ask daddy if he would take him on the train when he got there. soooooo, once brian met up with us, off to the train they went :)

since it was getting late, we decided to eat at kemah {which again, we never do!} at joe’s crab shack. not our favorite but probably the most kid friendly…especially on valentine’s night :) i had a great time with all of my valentines!!!!
