the river.

we headed to the river last wednesday and what a fun trip it was!! evan & avery had a blast and were pooped at the end of the trip! so were mummy & daddy for that matter :)

when we got there, evan was off to the races and was kept busy by our munchkin neighbours, skylar and stone {we have the same neighbours every year so they will hopefully grow up together!!}.  their cousing, phoebe was there this year as well so they all had a blast together!

evan also managed a birthday present…

our first night there, we ate at gristmill in gruene – a definite favourite!! it was hot but still yummy!!

the next morning, we got up slowly, made the trip to naegelins for breakfast, and then headed out to float. we stayed back with the kids and took them to the little kiddie pool at the other place {yes, that’s the name of our resort :)}. the water was lower than normal so there was quite a bit of beach like space too so it was perfect for our two. this was avery’s first time in the river and although she loves water, i was afraid it would be too cold for her. what was i thinking? she loved it!! it was the little man who didn’t like the cold but after awhile, mummy got mean and just put him in and then he was fine :)

before we went out, e had to get his shark tattoo from aunt ashley. he wasn’t sure what to think of it at first but now is wondering where it went!

after a mini float in the morning, we decided to try a longer one in the afternoon. unfortunately, miss avery hadn’t really had a nap so she had a meltdown shortly after we got in. i took her back up to the cabin where she took a nap with uncle mike. evan made it all the way to the end of the river while playing musical tubes – little stinker!!

skylar, stone, and phoebe were so good with the kids and they just loved playing with the “baby” :)

the next morning, it was time to pack up and head home. evan managed to pull everyone over to the playground so he could “pay party.” not sure where that came from but it meant he wanted to play on the playground.

fun, but quick river trip!!! can’t wait until next year!!
