the munchkins have been keeping us busy!! evan goes full force from the time he wakes up in the morning until he goes down for a nap around noon, “recharges” from noon to 2ish, and then gets going again until bedtime. chasing him from room to room in the house definitely gets a little more exciting while trying to take care of a one month old :) he’s actually very helpful and is usually pretty good but we also seem to be hitting the terrible twos a little early with some of the tantrums and attitude we get sometimes – good thing he’s cute!! haha!
so far, i still haven’t ventured out with both kiddos. i was going to last week but ended up not getting around in time to get out so we just went when brian got home. i’m hoping we get some great weather soon…i feel the zoo calling our name!
last thursday, avery had her one month check up. she weighed 10lb 6oz which is crazy!! she was 6lb 14oz at birth, 6lb 6oz on december 23rd, and was 10lb 6oz on january 20th!!! i think someone is trying to keep up with her big brother!!! she was 21.25inches long which is one inch longer than at birth. her doctor said everything looked great!!
starting last tuesday, miss avery has been a little congested. this makes nursing frustrating for her so we have been doing bottles. i remember evan getting super frustrated the first time he was snotty so i wasn’t surprised this time around.
avery’s nights haven’t changed a whole lot. the first couple of nights with the congestion, she didn’t sleep much at all but since then, she has evened back out to taking her last bottle around 930ish and then waking up at 130ish, 5ish, and then up for good around 7 or 8. not too bad!!
avery loves being in the bathroom with the water running. luckily, this allows mummy to at least get a somewhat peaceful shower. her swing also has nature sounds on it and one of them is running water so that gives me a chance to get some other things done while she sleeps in her swing.
avery’s been getting a little gassy lately so we’ve had a couple of days where we needed to give her mylicon with each feeding. she also has ended up with a little bit of a fussy time at night around 7. most nights, it’s not a big deal but we’ve had a couple of nights where she is nearly inconsolable. it seems to just be gas and passes within an hour but it’s so sad when she’s crying :(
we have a busy next few weeks ahead. we’ll be going to little rock to visit family this coming weekend and then we’ll head to virginia beach to watch my brother get patched – not sure exactly what this means other than it’s the last step in his pilot training before he is able to be deployed. a little bittersweet for sure, pray that the munchkins do well and that we aren’t too wiped out at the end of the trips :)
