we are home from another trip across the pond. unfortunately, this time it was for grandpa’s funeral. we were able to see many family members and had fun taking the kiddos around london {even if they were sleeping in their stroller and don’t really remember it :)}. this one’s going to be pretty picture heavy since that’s what everyone wants to see anyway:)
we started of at IAH with a little picnic dinner and then boarded the plane. an hour and a half after boarding, we were getting back off because of an engine issue. that was fixed in about 30 minutes so we got back on only to sit there for another 45 minutes while they did some paperwork. all in all, we were delayed about 2.5 hours. the good news was that avery fell asleep before we took off and evan followed shortly after and both slept until we woke them up for breakfast {about an hour out of london}. the bad news is that brian and i got very little sleep. oh well!
once we were there, the kids went up to the park while we got food, etc organized for the week.
our first morning, evan slept until 1015 while avery got up around 945 – go jet lag!! this was what a typical morning looked like for us: lounging in bed while watching cartoons:)
there is an amazing park just behind my aunt’s house where the kiddos would go and run around.
tuesday was grandpa’s funeral. the hearse and limos come to the house to pick everyone up and from there, we went to the crematorium for the service.
after the service, we headed to a pub where we had a private room. i put avery in some of her squeaky shoes so that i could keep up with her. i’m not sure everyone appreciated it but i made my job a little easier.
the next day we went to grandpa’s flat to clear some things out and miss priss fell asleep on the way home. someone had to hold her while she took a nap…
on thursday, we headed to a city farm in mudchute. evan got to ride in the front of the train on the way there!!
unfortunately avery crashed before we got to the farm and didn’t wake up until after we had left…oops!
there was an old gun and bunkers in the farm. it was kinda cool how they used them for the animals {not the gun – the bunkers:)}
anna’s bff – the grumpy cow.
“you looking at me?”
evan posing/running with the big gun in the bunker.
yeah, the pigs live in the bunkers. whatever works!
it was this little guy’s first time out with the crew.
his mama didn’t let him get very far away.
shortly after leaving the farm, the princess woke up. oops!
the next day we headed into london town to take the kiddos by the sights. first stop was the train station for another train ride to greenwich where we caught a boat on the thames. avery jo was hamming it up while we waited on the boat.
“let me on, let me on!”
love her little walk (by the way, no pics of e bc he was being a bit grumpy)
one of the royal navy ships they were moving in for the olympics. we watched a few helicopters take off which was cool but not quite on the same level as jets on an air craft carrier:)
how avery spent her time on the boat.
and the e man.
“i’m basically a big girl”
under tower bridge we go.
the tower.
after getting off the boat, we stopped at a park to eat lunch.
and then we headed to trafalgar square. miss aj fell asleep on the way and was nice and cozy in her seat.
we told him he was going to see lions. i don’t think this is what he had in mind. it was much better when daddy got up there with him.
the olympic countdown clock in trafalgar square.
a random statue of yuri gagarin, the first human in space.
horse guards parade – where sand volleyball will be played in the olympics. so cool!
after a fun filled day in london town, we headed home.
the next day, we headed to the seaside where nanny & grandpa always had their caravan.
even though it was bleeding cold, we had to stop in for an ice cream :)
we clearly enjoyed the ice cream :)
after a quick walk along the beach, we headed home to get packed up for the trip home.
we had a great time despite the sad reason for the trip….
