lots of things.

it’s been a week of new experiences for us {and not all of them good}.  on sunday, brian and i noticed evan was fussy.  he is super laid back so any fussiness is weird {lucky i know!}.  he would randomly start screaming until we picked him up and cuddled him, etc.  just so not like him.  because he had been gnawing on anything and everything he could get his hands on, we figured it was teething.  he also has been having a hard time sleeping through the night which is also very weird for him.  he would wake up 3 or 4 times and sometimes going and putting his paci back in was enough but other times he was truly upset and screaming like he was in pain.  finally, i gave him some tylenol one night and he slept great.  fast forward to yesterday morning.  he wakes up and his chest is “rattling.”  i could literally hear him breathing at the top of his chest.  we are going to my grandparents in arkansas this week and wanted him well while we’re there so i went ahead and got him a doc appt for yesterday morning.  turns out we have an ear infection in the left ear and are starting to teethe {duh!}.  funny thing about the ear infection is that he was sort of grabbing at his right ear – strange child :)  so our first illness :(  poor baby!  the doctor did say she thinks he’s teething as well so it maybe a little while before we’re back to normal on sleep. oh, and he now weighs 21lbs and is 28 inches long – i love my big boy!!!

evan also started eating “lunch” at daycare on monday – by accident.  i love our daycare and the ladies that work there are great but i had to bite my tongue a little when one of his teachers accidentally fed him carrots for lunch.  the reason i wasn’t terribly upset by it is that we were going to start evan on another meal of solids this weekend so that he was eating when we eat.  i was mad because she had done it without asking but she apologized profusely and said she didn’t know what she was thinking.  she didn’t do it on purpose {i don’t know if that makes it better or worse but whatever}.  all of that to say that evan is now eating three solid meals a day and has dropped a bottle in there somewhere.  what a big boy!!!  and we still love the ladies in his daycare room – they take great care of him!

evan has also discovered the art of shaking his head.  for some reason, he mostly does it when he’s in his high chair.  i caught him doing it yesterday at lunch.  what a stinker!  i think it’s hilarious how he stops to make sure i’m watching.  WHAT A HAM BONE!!!

evan doesn’t take many naps at home anymore when brian or i aren’t holding him but yesterday after the doctor, he fell asleep so i laid him down in his cradle that his great-great grandfather made for my uncle and that has been passed down.  he used to look so small  in it…not anymore!! we might have to retire the cradle soon :(
