we let evan decide what he wanted to do on his actual birthday and surprise, surprise, he wanted to head to the lego store to use his giftcard from cc {he had received quite a bit of other money but we decided to save that for our trip to disneyland}…
on our way, we decided to stop by the comic book store. e & aj bought a gift card for daddy’s birthday there and brian thought it might be fun to take them!
after picking out a few comic books, off to the lego store we went…
little man literally struck gold!! our neighbor {who is an engineer for boeing} moonlights as a lego store “volunteer” on sundays. he does it for the 50% discount and considers it a volunteer job as he spends what he makes in the store
as we walked in, we saw him and he asked what we were up to. once he found out it was evan’s birthday, he told evan he could use his discount for the day…talk about a happy boy!!
brian and I quickly reevaluated our decision to not let him use his birthday money! evan kept picking up sets and asking if he could get them {we never buy the kids toys so he is used to being told no}. when I said “yes”, he kind of looked at me strangely and asked if he had any more money. when I told him he still had a lot of money, he was really confused! it was really fun saying “yes” over and over!
in the end, evan walked out of the store with $300 worth of legos for $150!!!!!
huge thank you to our amazing neighbor who has no idea how excited he made our 5 year old!
we quickly headed home to get started on some serious building {and mommy got started on some serious lego organization!!!}
