sick baby.

this past week has been rough to say the least. evan had been on antibiotics since monday but has had no issues with his ears after the first night. avery is another story. she acted fairly normally all day monday so we thought she might be over the tummy bug. that night, she threw up after her bedtime bottle so no school tuesday. on tuesday, she and e stayed home with daddy. she was fine all day and didn’t throw up after her bedtime bottle so we figured we were in the clear. she went to school on wednesday but wednesday night, she threw up and also developed a 101-102 fever. ibuprofen kept it under control but she stayed home from school with mummy on thursday. because of the fever, i sent e to school. that night, she threw up again at bedtime and had the fever during the night so she stayed home again today – i took the morning shift and brian took the afternoon (and e stayed with us :)). when i got home from work, i asked brian if her diapers had been very wet. she was drinking fine but i had noticed her diapers being more dry than normal. when he said they hadn’t been very wet, i headed straight to the dr. poor baby had blood drawn (which she didn’t cry for – tough cookie!) to see if it was bacterial. that test came back positive so she was catheterized to see if it was urinary and she was also given an antibiotic booster shot – poor, sweet girl! it was a rough afternoon but they don’t think it is urinary and the antibiotics already seem to be helping. here’s hoping everything kicks in quickly and we have our happy, go lucky, baby girl back soon. i hate seeing her feeling so miserable :(
