nanny, evan, avery, and i headed to england on the 17th to see the family!
at the airport eating dinner and waiting for our plane.
i was nervous since evan wasn’t mobile on the last trip and this time he is going 90 to nothing anytime he is awake. i thought he would be ok on the flight over since it was essentially overnight and figured he would sleep. i was wrong about the sleep but he was really good! he sat and played with the toys i brought on the plane, read books, and watched tv and movies. he only slept the last 2 hours which meant that we arrived in england at 9am with a 21 month old running on 2 hours of sleep. avery on the other hand, did great and slept like a pro!
the first day was spent napping and picking up grandpa. despite only getting 2 hours of sleep, evan was great and adapted to the time change quite well.
the next day, some of our family came over to see us and meet miss avery. once again, the kids did great with the new faces and evan made sure to entertain everyone!
the next day, we went to the park behind bobby & bob’s house. evan had a blast on all of the fun play toys but especially loved the slides!
monday, we visited aunty bobby’s school and i think evan would have stayed all day without a problem:) we started in the cafeteria where evan tried to take me through the lunch line. bobby got evan some green beans in a bowl so he was happy! then we walked around some of the classrooms and met a few teachers. we then visited the younger kids classroom and play area and evan wanted to play with everything! he and joe rode the bikes outside together…so cute!!
then we headed to pick up grandpa for a drive to godstone, where he and nanny used to live. there is a large green there with a park and a pond. one of the things we always did when we went to england was walk to the pond all the time to feed the ducks. how fun to be able to take evan there {he went last time we were there too but he actually understands the ducks, etc now}!

apparently it was a rough day for bob & avery too…
tuesday we went to visit grandpa and i took no pictures…go me!
wednesday, joe, mum, evan, avery, and i headed to the london zoo. it was quite an experience. we had to take the train and tube to get there. evan loved his first train experience!!
when we got to the zoo, evan had a blast dragging joe & nanny all over to see the animals. for whatever reason, a lot of the animals weren't out which was disappointing but e still had a blast!
at lunch, evan spent most of his time chasing after the poor birds.
the coolest part of the zoo was a monkey exhibit where the monkeys are right there with you – no barricade between you and them at all. the zoo keeper that was in there are the time told mum to watch for the monkeys and back up if they got close because the monkeys know that strollers have crumbs and will try to get them – haha!!
that night, we headed to lynn’s house for dinner. evan managed to terrorize her two cats:)
thursday, we picked up grandpa and headed to lynn’s mum, joan’s, house. she makes the best jam sponge cake and we all had plenty!!! it was great to see her and visit for awhile!
friday, we picked up grandpa and went out to lunch, drove to visit aunty joan in a nursing home, and then brought grandpa back to bobby’s house for the night. again, no pics:(
saturday, we had to return our rental car and i wanted to go to a few shops before heading back. that afternoon, we just hung out with grandpa before he headed home. he and avery had a great time “chatting” with each other – she loves her grandpa! evan also had a great time with grandpa. anytime he would cough, e would say “ok grandpa?” it was super sweet!!
my most favouritest picture of the whole trip!!
it was an exhausting trip but the kids were amazing and went with the craziness. it was all worth it to see how excited and happy seeing the kids made grandpa!!! love him!!
a big thank you to bobby for getting all of the pack n plays, bedding, toys, etc for the kiddos!! you’re the best! xxxx
