applesauce.

we ventured outside of rice cereal for the first time tonight. we decided to try applesauce and he was sort of a fan. i think it took him a little while to get used to it but then he was a fan!

addie’s a star.

a neighbor of ours works from home and takes pictures. she is going to take some 3 month pics of evan and came over to see what all we could use in our house. while she was here, she took some shots of the girls and addie made her website!! check her out! you’ll have to scroll down a bit…

evan’s 2nd astros game.

we spent the night at my parent’s house saturday night and on sunday, me, evan, and my parents headed to the astros game while brian went up to the hospital to spend time with his dad.  we had a great time and evan was a big hit in our section :)

while we were getting ready to go to the game, my parents leaned evan against some pillows on their bed and when they turned around, evan had sat himself up!! what a big boy!!!

aTm v UAB game.

on saturday, brian and i headed up to college station with ali and jason and the little man stayed at my parents.  we had a blast but didn’t get home until late (well, late for me anyway:))  aTm won – thank goodness!!  i finally took the good camera with us so i took a few pictures while we were there…

solid food.

i decided i wanted to start evan on solid foods before i go back to work so tonight was the night. he was ok with it for about 2 minutes and then got bored and threw a fit. most of it ended up down his front – oh well!!

when we were in gulf shores, my cousins, connor & joe, had this shirt made for the little man.  it was a little big at the time but now is getting a little small.  i hadn’t taken any pictures of him in it so we sported it on monday and i grabbed some pictures before it became too covered in drool.

gig ‘em piggies.

my uncle, aunt, & cousin bought evan razorback pajamas (it’s only fair since i bought my cousin an aTm onesie:)) and he finally had a chance to wear them!!

 

he doesn’t look too bad in red but i still think maroon is his colour :)

busy, busy boy.

this last week has been busy.  we have spent a lot of time at cc & grumps house eating and hanging out as so many kind people have brought food for our family when grandma passed away.  evan even took his bath over there 4 nights in a row!!  he has been keeping everyone laughing and smiling in the midst of being sad which has been a nice distraction.  we got some pictures of grumps feeding the little piglet.  i think they are both having a blast :)

 

evan also went with me to meet the girls for lunch.  doesn’t he look like such a little man?!?!

daddy also had to work some late nights so he was home in the mornings with us.  we missed him at night but loved having time during the day with him :)

grandma.

we lost an amazing woman.  brian’s grandmother,marceline schwalm, passed away thursday morning.  she was one of the sweetest, most giving women i have ever met and took me in as one of her own grandkids from the beginning.  she would drop anything if you needed help and always told you she loved you each time you saw her.  she was so excited for evan’s arrival  and we are forever grateful he was able to meet her.  we are going to miss her dearly & love her so very much.  please keep brian’s family in your prayers as we go through this difficult time.  we know we’ll see her one day in heaven where she belongs among angels 0:)  until then, we love you grandma…

3 months old.

already?!?!?  yikes!!!

i really like the way people keep up with what their kiddos are doing at certain milestones so even though it is really boring for most to read, i’m going to do it as well (if for no other reason than at least i have it “written” here once i get evan’s baby book together :) )

at 3 months, evan is:

• exceptionally happy in the mornings.  brian and i love going in to get him because you will always get a huge smile!
• cooing like crazy!  they say you should try to talk to your baby but ours talks so much in the mornings, we can hardly get a word in edge-wise.  usually in the afternoon, you can have a “conversation” with him where you will say something and he will make noises back to you.
• grabbing at things and actually gripping them.
• holding his head up amazingly well- especially considering how big his head is:)  we can do the superman game with him and he keeps his head and legs straight out-impressive!!
• sitting up with just a little bit of help.  then he gets tired and flops over but it is pretty impressive.  he loves the view sitting up too.
• standing and playing in his exersaucer.  he loves playing in it and looking at all of the fun toys.
• sleeping pretty well.  usually he will only wake up once which gives me a good stretch of continuous sleep.  one night, he slept from 930 until 720 and wasn’t fussing when i went in to get him.  last week, he started waking up 3ish times a night but i think that was a growth spurt.  we seem to have gotten over it (knock on wood:))
• eating ALOT!!  i shouldn’t be surprised but this kid can put away some milk!  he eats about every 3 hours during the day.
• wearing anywhere from 6 months(a little snug) to a 12-18 month onesie (which fits!).  we’ll see what happens with all of the cute adidas track suits i bought him for the “winter.”
• sleeping in his room.  we started this about a week and a half ago and he took to it fairly quickly!  i think i’m having the biggest problem with it.  i have to check every night that the monitor is working but i think i’m getting used to it slowly but surely!
• loving his rainforest activity mat and sort of liking his swing.  at least it gives his mummy some time to get a few things done here and there.  he also likes to stare at himself in the mirror of the activity mat.
• chewing on his fist like crazy!  along with that comes drooling like crazy! 
• squirming around like a little worm.  i will put him on his activity mat and turn around to find him facing the opposite direction or scooted almost entirely off the mat.  busy body!!
• wearing a size 3 diaper (i think he’s under the impression the size correlates with how old he is in months :))
• hating his infant seat with a passion!!  we are about to get him the convertible car seat because he screams bloody murder every time we put him in it.  maybe he’s a little squished?!?! i dunno.  i just know it kills me every time i have to put him in it so we’re going to try something different!
• loves to watch football & soccer on tv (i’m sure it’s only those two things :))
• our world!  we can’t believe he is so perfect and we love him sooooo very much!!!

ps…thanks england family for his chelsea uni – i think he looks good in it!! :)

week 12 & 13.

it’s getting boring around here!! :)

evan had another couple of weeks at home with his mummy.  he has developed a HUGE dislike for his infant seat so i tend to stay home anytime i don’t have to go out.  it definitely helps the bank account :)  anyway, we did actually get out a few times.  brian is working with another crew who is scheduled to go up in february.  we had a bowling night with the crew and evan got to go!!  what a big boy!

evan’s also very proud of his uncle james.  he found out that he will be flying f-___ (i can’t remember which) planes so we are really excited about that!!

aunt ashley also made it through her first couple of weeks of school with jr high kiddos!  i know i couldn’t do it!

brian & i also headed to college station this past weekend to see the aggies btho new mexico!! we had a great time and evan, rylea, & addie stayed with nanny & vanpa in katy.  he had a blast traveling around town with them:)
