week 11.

back to the real world in our house.  our last england visitor left so poor evan was left with his mummy – poor kid!! we have spent the last few days just relaxing at home and not doing a whole lot :)  on saturday, nanny & vanpa came over and babysat while brian and i had our first date night.  evan told us he had a blast and i think nanny and vanpa were quite happy as well!  we weren’t really sure what we wanted to do but ended up running to a few stores (and don’t think we didn’t double check the car 5 times before going in a store to make sure we didn’t leave him!) and then going to a birthday dinner for a friend at saltgrass.  we weren’t out late because we were both tired after dinner.  oh the life of parents!! nanny and vanpa spent the night so the next morning, we webcammed with england so grandpa could see the little man.  he thinks that is the neatest thing ever and it is fun to be able to see everyone there!  monday, evan watched cars for the first time in his swing.  he actually paid attention to it until he fell asleep about 30 minutes in. i know you’re not supposed to let your kid watch tv, blah, blah, blah but he enjoyed it.  funny story – after he woke up from his small nap, we were at the part where lightning mcqueen and mater are tractor-tipping.  he was watching and when mcqueen revved his engine and made the tractors tip, evan got this huge smile on his face and kinda grunted.  i’m sure he had no idea what was going on but it was funny that he reacted appropriately at what was going on – too cute!!

ps…i’m excited because evan slept from 9:30 until 7:20 the next morning on sunday night!!! he hasn’t done it since but he only wakes up once during the night usually so that’s ok!  it was the first full night of sleep i have gotten since march or april :) yay evan!!! now let’s keep it going ;)

week 10.

the major happening this week (besides evan’s dr’s appt) was aunt ashley graduating from texas state with her mba.  we headed up friday morning for the ceremony.  we are so proud of her and can’t wait to have her around more often.  she will be teaching computer classes at a jr high in pearland next school year!  we love you aunt ashley!

other than that, we have been hanging out at home, snuggling, playing, & enjoying our little man’s smiles.  he is full of them!  as far as sleeping, i have started putting the little man down earlier at night.  it seemed like he wasn’t taking a full feeding before bed and would then wake up hungry.  now that he is getting ready for bed sooner, he is taking a whole bottle (more than 8 ounces) right before bed.  he was also falling asleep when i was nursing him so we switched to a bottle so that he wouldn’t fall asleep before he got enough.  plus daddy gets to feed him at night which they both enjoy!  we then put him down between 9:30 and 10 and he puts himself to sleep.  he has been sleeping until between 3 and 5 (this morning it was 5:20!!) and then getting up between 7 and 7:30.  so nice for mummy!!! he is in such a good mood in the mornings and it makes it so easy to wake up with him!! have i mentioned we love our little boy so much and think he is just the most amazing little boy ever!  if you’re having a bad day, just come over and have evan smile at you – it will change your mood instantly!! :)

evan’s first astros game.

we decided to take evan to his first astros game last saturday.  it’s a good thing we had evan to entertain us because the astros stunk it up!  our friends juliet, troy, and their little boy jaxon as well as krista and ryan met us there.  cc, grumps, liz, and joe also came so it was quite a crowd.  evan dressed up in one of his astros outfits and looked adorable!!  we had a blast!!  that was first of many astros games evan will go to…

2 month check-up.

evan had his 2 month appt tuesday and it was good & very terrible all at the same time.  evan checked out perfectly!  he weighs 16.25 lbs and is 25.25 inches long – above the 95th percentile on both so he is proportional.  dr. abbott was quick to tell me he’s not fat but i still think he’s my little piglet :)  once he was checked out, the nurse came in with his 3 shots and oral vaccine.  the oral vaccine was a cinch but i had to use every ounce of strength not to slug the nurse, grab evan, and run after the first shot.  she was so quick and even apologized before she gave them to him but that didn’t make the blood-curdling scream any easier to bear for this mummy :(  it broke my heart.  as soon as she was done, i picked him up and cuddled him as close as possible until he went to sleep.  we spent the rest of the day watching movies and snuggling.  we needed some mummy-evan time!  that night, we went to watch lake play friendswood in volleyball while daddy played softball.  we didn’t stay for the whole match but saw some of my girls.  my last set of girls i coached are seniors this year!! hard to believe!!

2 months old.

oh my gosh!  my little man is already two months old!!! people aren’t kidding when they say it flies by!  we took more pictures of evan next to his teddy bear, armstrong.

so we’ve obviously porked up a bit :)  i call him my little piglet – aren’t i a nice mummy?!? :)  tomorrow we go for his two month shots.  i know he’ll make it through – i’m just hoping i do ;)  we’ll also get to see what he weighs.  he hasn’t been officially weighed since his 2 week appt and i have a feeling he’s gained quite a bit so this ought to be interesting!! :)

week 9.

another busy week! 

we decided to put evan in his bumbo just before bed to see what he thought of it.  he was grinning and smiling – so cute!!

we are also “those” parents who take bathtub pics of our son.  worse yet, we take bathtub video :)  he loves his baths so much and it’s adorable to watch him smile in the tub.  it’s not so adorable when we get him out and he screams bloody murder but we didn’t bother capturing that on video…

ps…i swore i wouldn’t be one of those parents who post pictures of their children’s “parts” but it’s a cute video and i don’t have time to edit it out

evan has spent some quality time with daddy & addie.  apparently daddy drew the short straw – he’s the only one not napping!

we took joe to texas roadhouse one night and met my parents at the one in pearland – halfway between our houses.  it was evan’s first trip to roadhouse as well (although most definitely not his last – it’s one of my favourite restaurants!!).  evan got in some snuggle time with nanny & vanpa.

 

evan also had his first birthday party last weekend.  his friend, margot, turned one and had her party at mcdonald’s.  it was so exciting, evan had to take a nap in the middle of the party :)  happy birthday margot and thanks for inviting us to your party!!

during the week i went for my post-partum check-up…a little late i know :) i wasn’t able to get a picture of evan with SLR (my doctor) in the hospital so i took him with me and got one then!  soooo cute!  i love her & was so glad she was the one to deliver me!

week 8.

week 6 & 7 were covered with our trip to the river and gulf shores so we’re on to week 8 already!

brian has wrestling matches with addie nearly every night.  they are so cute and she has so much fun!  rylea doesn’t quite get it so she brings her ball to brian and drops it in the middle of the wrestling “ring.”  it’s really funny to watch!  at the end of the match, brian makes addie sit and shake signaling the end of the match.  strangely enough, she understands!  cousin joe even got in on some of the action…

 

since it’s so hot, some days evan spends as a “nakey baby.”  he’s not completely naked since mummy doesn’t trust the natural fountain maker but he loves to play around with no clothes on:)  we might have a problem in the future!

 

the family decided to go to our softball game and even made signs – how kind :)

we met up with laura, john, & mckenna and laura, luke, & katelyn while they were all in town. it’s so crazy that we all have babies within a couple of months of each other.  mckenna & evan are 3 days apart and katelyn is about 2 months older than both of them.  so cute!!
