last weekend, we headed to arkansas for our christmas celebration with my family there. it was a last minute decision because of e’s rsv but he was feeling much better so we decided to go for it! boy, are we glad we did! it was a quick trip but e got to experience opening presents for the first time. in typical little kid fashion, he was loving ripping the paper and somewhat paid attention to the toys. once we got home, he put all of those fun toys to good use!! thank you for all of his fun gifts!!

rsv.
last monday {just after jaxon’s birthday party}, i got a call from daycare at 230 because evan was running a 102 fever – yikes!! i immediately left work, made him a drs appt, picked him up, and headed to the doctor. i fully expected him to tell us that he wasn’t sure what was causing it and for him to send us home giving e some tylenol for his fever. after spending nearly an hour at the doctor {and giving e a breathing treatment}, we were then sent to clear lake regional for chest xrays to rule out pneumonia. apparently our little guy was more sick than we thought. the doctor was shocked because of what a good mood he was in – typical for him! turns out it wasn’t pneumonia, thank goodness, but it was rsv…no fun!! he seems to have weathered it well and is just a little congested still but hasn’t run fever since that day. it’s no fun having a sick little guy but because he was in such a good mood, brian and i started to wonder if it wasn’t all a ploy to get us to stay home with him for the rest of the week :)
while at home, evan tried water and apple juice and a sippy cup for the first time. it wasn’t too bad but we’ll try again once his nose clears up so that it’s easier for him…
a “fun” result of rsv was that all of that sleeping through the night the munchkin had been doing was thrown out the window. evan and i “slept” in the guest room together – really, most of the time, he was restless and i was awake…no fun! as a result, nanny came down on thursday night to help us out and let mummy and daddy get a good night’s sleep. thank you nanny!! our slumber party was fun :)
rewind. 12.4 aka snow day in houston.
on december 4, we miraculously got some good snow in houston! i was going to go and get e out of daycare if it ever stuck to the ground but it never did in our area {although it did just about everywhere else around us…oh well!}. i got just a few pics from work to prove that it was actually snowing…

jaxon’s birthday party.
today, we went to jaxon’s birthday party at juliet & troy’s house. there were 2 jumpy castles and league city fire brought over one of their engines for the kiddos to play on. evan had so much fun & enjoyed playing with everyone!
juliet also got cupcakes for evan’s 1/2 birthday. we didn’t let him eat any of it but that didn’t stop him from getting a handful of icing :)

hooky & santa.
today, i played hooky from work with every intention of getting all of my christmas presents made and possibly even wrapped. brian already had worked 39 hours this week so he was basically not working today either. he did have to go in for a couple of hours this morning and a couple of hours this afternoon. i didn’t think it made sense to send evan to daycare for just a few hours so we hung out at home until he got home. then we left to go see santa at the mall. i figured the lines would be a little shorter during the week. i’m sure they were but we still stood in line for about an hour. we had fun watching the other kids reaction to santa as well as the parents trying to get the kids to smile – too funny!
e was a pro and we got a great pic of him!! too bad he looks like such a little boy and not the 6 month old baby he is!
then after seeing santa, we went up to work with daddy while he set up an emergency scenario simulation for some astronauts. it was kinda fun! there was so much for the little man to see!! he took a little time to eat his snack while we were there…
oh yeah, and with everything we did today, i got absolutely nothing done with christmas gifts…oh well!! there’s always tomorrow :)
