a little news.
surprise!! evan ray is going to be a big brother!!!
we found out two weeks ago that we were expecting but i had no idea how far along i might be. the doctor sent me for a blood test and her nurse called to say my levels were very high and that i needed to come in the next week. her guesstimate was that i was 5-6 weeks along.
fast forward to last thursday when i went to see stephanie, my doctor’s nurse practitioner. once she had the baby pulled up on the ultrasound machine, brian and i stared at each other because unlike the last time with evan, there was an actual baby on the screen, not a blob. ummmmm…then stephanie proceeds to tell us that i am 11.5 weeks pregnant!!!! what?!?!?!?
God has a sense of humor and thought it would be fun to bless brian and i with 2 little ones under 18 months :) we are so excited and nervous – especially since it’s only 6 months until my due date of december 27 {actually, stephanie told me i have a due week because it is hard to pinpoint an actual date when you are this far along…awesome :)} we are so blessed and can’t wait to meet our little one and know that evan will be an amazing big brother!!
evan’s first birthday party.
first, thank you so much to everyone who was able to come out to celebrate the first year of my little man’s life!! we had such an amazing time and were so happy to see how many people love our son :) we are so blessed with the most amazing friends and family and were excited to share this special event with so many!
cc had come over the night before to watch the little man while we got some last minute stuff finished up and then my parents came early saturday morning and helped out. evan decided vanpa needed a little help packing the ice chests…
the amazing cake {one of cc’s nurses made it for us and did a fabulous job!!!}…

we had a bounce house outside that was apparently a big hit with all the munchkins {big & little;)} but we never got outside with the camera to get pics :(
evan got to enjoy cake for the first time and enjoy it he did!!!
unfortunately, e didn’t feel the need for a nap in the morning so he ended up taking one in the middle of his party and didn’t have time to open his pressies before everyone left :( i guess there’s only so much you can do about that though!
after e’s party, we all watched the england v usa world cup game. nanny, evan, and i sported our england gear while vanpa, brian, and a few others sported their usa gear. in the end, we tied which left everyone somewhat happy although it’s a darn good thing the ugly ones count just as much as the pretty ones :)
after the world cup game, everyone left but nanny & vanpa and we opened pressies {a big thank you to everyone!!!}…
and then we went out and played in the bouncy house. he loved it and wore himself out!!!
after we had played outside for awhile, we went back inside and played with e’s new toys. e and i even played catch with his new usa world cup soccer ball :)
THANK YOU AGAIN TO EVERYONE FOR SUCH A GREAT 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR OUR LITTLE GUY!!!!
shoe shopping.
shoe shopping for brian has always been a challenge so i should’ve seen this coming. evan and i headed out early friday morning to get him a pair of shoes before meeting friends for lunch. i figured it shoudn’t take long since he’s had a pair of nike shox before and they were fine. apparently, my child has a rather large {aka fat} foot – not his father’s problem but still. after combing through the mall and attempting to shove my son’s feet in way too many pairs of shoes resulting in a not very happy little man, we finally bought the ONLY pair of shoes his sweet, fat feet would fit into :) they aren’t the cutest shoes in the world but they’ll do! thank goodness something fit!

evan’s first birthday.
since e’s first birthday was during the week, we took it pretty easy! he got to open a present from uncle james and lots of birthday cards when he woke up…
then we headed to swim lessons where evan continued to be a stud blowing bubbles & kicking his feet :) we ran a few errands and then headed home to play. that night, cc came over and brought the cozy coupe she got e for his birthday…
and e also played with the laptop brian and i got him for his birthday {thought it might keep him from playing with ours…thought wrong :) although he does love it!}…
for his birthday, evan also got a little jungle gym and a sand and water table {thanks nanny, vanpa, uncle james, and england family!!}. unfortunately, he wasn’t able to play on it on his birthday because it was raining but he did the next night and loved them!
and the big boy sitting in his big boy chair with his laptop…
