new toy.

i know you’re shocked but my spoiled little boy got a new toy yesterday.  i have had my eye on bouncers for awhile now but didn’t want to spend the money if he wouldn’t use it.  i had asked at day care whether he used theirs and for the first week or two, he wouldn’t.  however, when nanny went to pick him up a couple of weeks ago, he was in the bouncer and having a blast!  on wednesday, when i picked him up, he was in it again and bouncing everywhere!! i decided it was time to get one.  it will be good for developing some legs muscles as well as maybe helping keep his manly figure in check :)

 

our house is turning into baby central!!  we’re going to have to figure out a way to rearrange the furniture to find a home for everything…what a lucky boy!!

evan loves his puppies.

last night, evan was sitting on my lap staring at the girls. he has loved them since day one and i have a feeling they are going to get each other in trouble in the future. evan absolutely loves watching rylea play fetch and thinks it’s great when she brings the ball to him. rylea also has a habit of putting her tennis balls under the couch and then barking – annoying! lately, evan has started cracking up when she does this and i mean big time belly laugh. for about 10 seconds. it is way cute! last night, i tried to get brian to catch it on video. we never got the massive belly laugh because the light from the camera distracted evan but we got a few cute videos (and i know the crew from england loves video – by the way, there are more videos on the family picture site too…)

this weekend.

we spent saturday morning/early afternoon at brian’s soccer game.  cindy came and played with evan on the sideline and he loved it!!  unfortunately, bri’s soccer team didn’t do too well. 

that night, the choir that jim was in was having a concert in goliad and they were dedicating it to jim.  the concert didn’t start until 7 so we decided that might be a little much for evan.  brian went with his mom and sister to the concert while vanpa (my dad) came down to hang out with evan and i. 

brian said that the concert was really good and that the mission at goliad was really cool looking.  i know we’re all shocked, but brian didn’t take any pictures :)

meanwhile, dad and i went on a father/daughter date to san lorenzos.  evan kept eyeing our food – i’m fairly sure he wanted a plate of his own :)  evan had fun with his vanpa and really enjoyed bathtime with vanpa in charge!

and yes, those are sweet potatoes up his nose :)  can you say messy eater?!?!

the next morning, evan spent a lazy morning in his pjs with vanpa, daddy, and mommy.  silly baby!

 

last night, cc came over for some steak so evan got even more grandparent time!! spoiled little boy!!  after dinner and bathtime,  this is what we found in our living room.

evan’s still sleeping pretty well although he has been congested for the last week and a half so that has interrupted his sleep just a bit. usually he wakes up sometime in the  middle of the night and i just have to go in and put his pacifier back in and he is ok.  i also propped his mattress up a bit to help his nose drain which has resulted in finding him turned completely sideways in his crib in the middle of the night.  i would take a picture but i’m not about to wake a sleeping baby!!  the congestion also means that he doesn’t get to nurse very often.  he gets frustrated with his nose and the bottle is just easier so i’ve had to pump like crazy lately.  can you say milk cow?!?!  hopefully it will clear up soon!!

last night cindy, ashley, sam, barbie, and mike came over to eat dinner and we told them about evan rolling over once the night before. we tried our hardest to get him to roll over and this is the video we got...

well kind of anyway.  last night, brian put evan on the floor on his tummy and he immediately rolled over.  mummy was a little upset about this because she was busy cleaning bottles in the kitchen and didn’t see it.  we tried so hard to get him to do it again but i think the first time freaked him out a little bit :)  he just kept laughing but wouldn’t do it again.  i’ll have to see if i can catch it on camera tonight sometime :)  sorry no pics!

last thursday, brian’s dad (aka grumps) lost his battle with cancer.  i was blessed to have jim as my father-in-law.  he was an amazing father, husband, and grandfather who would do anything for anybody.  he was a caring, funny, smart man who was always good for a laugh:)  we are all heart broken but know that he is with us always. 

brian & i are so grateful that grumps was able to meet evan and will forever cherish those memories.  we know that he will always watch over evan but wish his time on earth with him and us wasn’t cut so short. 

grumps, we love you and will miss you.  we know you are in heaven with grandma and we will see you again someday…

 




















 
please keep brian’s family in your prayers as it’s been a trying last few months. thank you to everyone who brought food, came to the service, been there for us, etc.  it means more than you will ever know…

just for fun.

this weekend.

we had another busy weekend. friday night, we headed up to katy to spend the night with nanny & vanpa. aTm was playing at 11:30 saturday morning and we didn’t want to be rushed.

saturday morning, brian and i headed to college station and watched the aggies play osu. they did much better than we expected!!! after a snack at blue baker, we headed back to katy for dinner with my parents. evan apparently kept everyone entertained all day long!! after eating, feeding evan, and having bathtime, we loaded up the munchkin and the puppies and headed home.

sunday morning, brian mowed the yard. evan decided he wanted to “help” so i took his activity mat outside and he played while daddy mowed.

evan’s big thing lately has been to blow raspberries. he didn’t stop doing it all weekend – until mummy broke out the camera to record it. go figure!!

4 months.

evan ray is 4 months old (a few days ago but whatever :))!!!

our little munchkin is developing such a personality and is becoming such a little person…

things evan is doing at 4 months:

• he is still trying to sit up and does fairly well most of the time but i think his big belly is becoming a bit of a hindrance :)
• he has just learned how to blow raspberries with his mouth.   now that he knows how to do it, he does it ALL the time!  as a result, his clothes are constantly covered in drool – even more so than before!
• he giggles/laughs/bellly laughs when you blow raspberries on his belly – so cute!
• he gets frustrated when you lay him on his belly because he wants to go somewhere and can’t.
• still hasn’t rolled over but is trying.  he swings his leg over but gets caught up on his “speed bump”  aka his arm
• he has been sleeping through the night for 2 weeks.  usually he goes from about 8:30 to around 6 or 6:30.  sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night but will usually put himself back to sleep. if he doesn’t, going and putting his paci in his mouth does the trick. 
• he is eating 2 solid meals a day.  3 days after starting solids, he started sleeping through the night.  coincidence??  i think not :)  he eats rice cereal and a fruit in the morning and then cereal and a veggie at night.  so far, he has tried applesauce, sweet potatoes, and peaches and loved them all!!
• he is enamored with the puppies.  he loves to sit and watch rylea play fetch.  he thinks it’s hilarious when she runs back and drops the ball for us.  he also loves to lay on the floor or sit on the couch and watch addie.  he just stares at her and smiles.  they love to give him kisses too!!
• he has become better about riding in his infant carrier in the car.  we are still about to get him the convertible car seat but at least he’s not screaming every time we go somewhere.
• he is doing really well at daycare and loves to watch the other little kids.  he is one of the youngest and apparently enjoys watching the other kids crawl, etc.  hopefully they‘ll teach him their tricks :) everyone there says he just smiles the entire time so hat’s good to hear!
• still loves his baths!
• he is wearing mostly 12-18 month clothes and size 3 diapers (we haven’t moved up to 4s yet even though he is 4 months old :))

we love our little boy so much and can’t wait to see what he’s up to in the next month!!
